Steven McDermott, CAIA, Founder and Managing Principal, brings more than 30 years of experience across some of the industry's most respected institutions, including BlackRock and Fidelity Investments. A Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and former chapter head of the CAIA Association in Los Angeles, Steven founded Black Pearl after years of witnessing the same pattern: sophisticated allocators bombarded with undifferentiated deal flow by managers who prioritized volume over fit, and who disappeared once a commitment was made. Black Pearl was built as the antidote to that model, offering allocators a genuinely selective, consultative, and relationship-first approach to private markets access.
